Frida

I had not intended to keep two puppies from the Nalu x Eden litter. Ivy caught my eye early on and was my planned keeper. That is, until I noticed Frida's ground covering movement and realized I just had to keep her too! She is so much of what I was hoping for from this breeding - the big stride movement, solid topline, beautiful soft expression. 

Frida is named after Frida Kahlo's last piece of artwork before her passing. Viva La Vida is a painting of watermelons cut into many different shapes and sizes. It is thought to be a celebration of life. This litter was sadly surrounded by a lot of loss, so I wanted a name that had to do with life, but in a happy, honorable way. I had the call name Frida in mind, so I googled Frida Kahlo, and when I read the meaning behind this particular piece, I knew I had found her name. And it suits her perfectly!

Frida is my sweet, sensitive soul who is also very driven, intense, and too smart! She has a lot to teach me, and I've enjoyed learning. She is the best puppy auntie to the litters we've had, as she loves to nuzzle and play with them, her tail wagging to sweetly, and will also provide very gentle disciple when needed. 

The show ring is not Frida's idea of fun, so we are taking that slow. She is show pointed but we are in no hurry to push her into the ring. She went wild bird hunting with us Fall of 2022, and she had a lightbulb moment when she came upon her mama Eden on point, and flushed up not one, but two cackling pheasants! She was absolutely thrilled, chased them, and realized what we were actually out there to do. After that, the hunt was on and she worked the field beautifully. 

July 2023 UPDATE: Frida finishes her Championship! In a total of 8 days of showing, she won 7 of the days. Her wins include TWO Specialty Best of Winners wins, one for a major. And a Best of Opposite Sex win over specials for a 5pt major! Good girl Frida!
