Jenna Sue started this whole Brittany addiction! It is all her fault! When we moved to Texas, I was seeking a dog to show in Junior Showmanship. I wasn't specific on breed, just a nice dog I could show. Through a network of friends, I found Jenna, who was just under 2 years old. Together, she and I earned her AKC championship easily. Then I decided to try out Hunt Tests, not knowing at all if this dog I had would listen, run away, or even run and hunt at all. Well, she taught me never to doubt your Brittany! She was amazing in the field. She went out there and did everything perfectly. She LOVES her birds, and she is a bird finding machine. If theres a bird, she will find it.
At the time of this typing, Dec 17, 2020, Jenna is 14.5 years old and sprawled over my lap as I write this. She is truly such a special little girl. We've been through a lot together, and come out stronger and better. We both may have some grey hairs, but I prefer to think of it as wisdom, not age! She is smart and clever and manipulative to get her way. It's amazing to see her figure things out, even at her age. And she LOVES toast. She will stand in the kitchen by where the toaster is and bark at us. I will admit her persistence often pays off, because how can you resist that face?!
The photo to the left of this paragraph is her on point at 14 years old. Still stylish even in her teens! During the COVID pandemic, we visited a friend in Kansas to do field work, and Jenna absolutely loved it. She did get herself in trouble one day when she decided to go on a "walk about" by herself, and disappeared around the corn field for 20 minutes! My heart was pounding thinking my little old dog that "pretends" she doesn't hear is going to get lost and be coyote dinner. But 20 minutes later, here comes Jenna strutting out on the complete opposite side of the corn field, proud of herself and not a bit ashamed! After that she was kept on a long line so she couldn't worry me again! I swear, when people say Brittanys calm down with age, I don't think Jenna got the memo. And I wouldn't have it any other way.
August 2021 - We said goodbye to our sweet Jenna Sue. She was a trooper until the end, and we are so blessed to have had her in our lives for so long. Thank you Jenna for teaching me so much, growing up with me, and being the best girl anyone could've asked for. Until we meet again.

14.5 years old, blind, and mostly deaf, Jenna found the quail at a hunt test and locked right up on point. The nose still works!
This was several years ago when we went to a friends property to work birds. Jenna had pointed this quail, and when it was flushed, she chased it across the lot, followed it into watery brush, and then came out with it proudly in her mouth. She retrieved it right to us, head held high and proud! Good girl Sue!
