Alice

Jenvy's We're All Mad Here

Alice is the result of a long awaited breeding between Beth Rosener's beautiful boy Winston, and our favorite girl Ivy. This litter was beautiful, with all lovely pups, but Alice's quiet, observant personality, with her little "smirk" lip marking won me over from the start. She had the type like her mama, with improvements from her sire. A nice moderate, typey puppy that could move. And she was pretty wild for retrieving!

I kept Alice home to grow up before showing her. In the meantime, we did bird intro and field work, and she proved to everyone that she was a natural! The nose on this girl is like no other, and even as a little pup she was solid and held point beautifully. She never false points or points old scent, even as a youngster she already knows the difference in "a bird is right there" and "a bird WAS there." She's pretty amazing to watch work in the field. She runs at a shooting dog range, and sometimes tries on her All Age legs. While living in Minnesota, Alice ran in a handful of Puppy and Derby field trials and received some competitive placements and high compliments from the judges.

Into the show ring Alice went, at the Minnesota Brittany Club specialty in Cambridge, MN at the age of 12 months old. She was only entered in the two specialties - the first day she was a wild Britt pup, wanting to sniff and watch the birds. The second day, she showed that she was in fact somewhat trained, and could gait in a circle, and walked away with a big 4pt major (1 shy of 5pts!)! The following month, she went to the NRG Houston specialty and took Best in Sweeps and Best of Winners for a 3pt major! After this, she traveled to shows with me, but I didn't enter her until the National in November. At just under 18 months old, she exceeded my expectations and won WINNERS BITCH at the Brittany National under Australian judge Peter King - while also in her first heat cycle! I guess that gave her a little extra "sparkle!"

This little girl is small but mighty, and continues to amaze and entertain me daily. She's the snuggliest girl, wanting to be right up on you. She has a lot of sass when she has demands, but also loves to please and learn. Alice lives life how she wants, and embodies "we're all mad here!"
